I Got a Job

I got a job offer the other day.

I’m not going to lie, it’s nice to feel wanted. And, on top of that, I’ll be doing work I specifically enjoy, and have experience in. It’s fewer hours than my current job, but it’s a bit of a pay rise, and I can’t tell you how happy I am to get out of retail.

I’m not sure about it, though.

On the one hand, it’s a really good opportunity, and I’m sure I can do it well, but on the other hand, I’m scared of change. It’s in an entirely new area, much less safe than my current work, and I don’t know too much about the company since they’re a small business.

Still, I can’t help but feel excited. The work is pretty much what I was doing for Movellas, so at least I have experience in a lot of different aspects of it. I wish the company itself was bigger, perhaps, so I could find out more about them, but they’re growing, so there’s opportunities there. I’ve been at my current job for nearly two years now, with no possibility of a pay rise, not even a cost of living adjustment. The only pay rises I get are when the minimum wage increases.

I’m going to miss my current work, though. I know what I’m doing there, and I can do it well, so I feel a lot more confident in what I’m doing. But it’s so stressful, and the customers weren’t the nicest, so there are upsides and downsides.

I just really don’t like change. That’s something I need to work on.
